Bathroom Maintenance to Keep your Bathroom Looking Good

A well cared for and maintained bathroom doesn’t only look good, but it is also something that is important to help prevent repairs and problems developing in the room. Here are some of the things that you can do to keep your bathroom well maintained…

One of the most important things to do is make sure that you control the moisture levels in the room. Obviously, in a bathroom there is going to be water – but if this water hangs around, it creates problems like damp and mould, and this can cause damage as well as looking and smelling unpleasant. Make sure that you have a good quality extractor fan and if possible open the window after bathing or showering to let excess moisture out of the room.

Regularly cleaning the room helps to prevent soap scum from building up on tiles, around baths and showers and also sinks. If you live in a hardwater area, you may also want to get a cleaner that removes limescale. Check the sealant around baths and showers – you can get bathroom sealant to replace sealant that has become damaged over time. This helps to prevent leaks and water damage.

Keeping on top of cleaning is also essential. Regularly cleaning sinks, toilets, showers, and baths helps prevent soap scum, limescale, and bacteria build-up. Paying attention to grout and sealant is especially important, as these areas can discolour or deteriorate if neglected. Replacing worn silicone around baths and showers can help prevent leaks and water damage.

You should also check the plumbing – look out for leaks from showerheads and taps, and regularly clear drains – hair and other debris can build up in plugholes and block them.
