Five Shopify tips for store beginners

Starting a Shopify store is an exciting experience, but it can also be nerve-racking. There is so much to learn and do; however, with a few tips, you will be able to master the basics of a Shopify store and get your new venture off to the best possible start.

1. Don’t customise the theme

While you are probably longing to bring an individual touch to your store, avoid customising the theme too much. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, it will probably not look as effective as the theme already installed. Instead, make it your own by changing images relevant to your brand. If you want something more individual, trust the Shopify website design to a professional web developer such as

2. Add policies to the footer

It is annoying for customers to have to search for policies, such as returns. By adding your policies to the footer, they are readily available. This more positive user experience will help you build trust with your customers.

3. Update your inventory regularly

While you may be keen to put all your products on the page at once, avoid this. Start with about 25 products and add more at regular intervals, such as daily, weekly, or monthly. Choose a time interval that you can maintain, as this will signal to Google that your site is active and regularly updated.

4. Make use of free promotion

Advertising can be expensive, and you are unlikely to have a big budget at the start. Instead, post your products regularly to social media – such as Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter/X – with links to your Shopify store. 5. Test mobile settings

You may have designed your Shopify store on a desktop or a laptop and are confident it looks great, but not all customers use these devices. Many people will use their mobile phones for browsing and shopping, so make sure your Shopify store looks good and is easy to navigate on a mobile screen.
