Light Shows Across the Globe

If you want to see amazing light shows, here are the best places to visit during the holiday season:

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

You might think of sun, sea and sand as well as the Rio carnival but Rio also does big things at Christmas time. The biggest insurance company in Brazil sets up a huge tree in a lagoon and they make sure that it’s one of the biggest trees in the world! On one occasion the tree weighed 542 tons, was lit up and there’s an impressive firework display. The tree is on display from 1st December to the 6th January.

Vienna, Austria

Christmas is a big deal in Vienna and there are lights aplenty. Bulb garlands decorate the streets, the most impressive of which can be found on the road to St Stephen’s Cathedral where huge chandeliers adorn the road. To install your own chandeliers, don’t forget to include a Ceiling Rose from www.creative-cables.co.uk/2648-ceiling-roses

Tokyo, Japan

Beginning in early November and running through to January, lights shows are a popular site in Japan. Shiodome, Shinbashi stages the Shiodome Caretta Illumination featuring 24,000 LED lights and amazing projection shows. It runs every 20 minutes throughout November to January and is truly a sight to behold.

Sydney, Australia

Christmas in Australia is a hot and sunny affair but it doesn’t mean they don’t go in big for the lights! There is an interactive Christmas tree and a light and sound installation but the best known is the light show at Sydney’s Town Hall. Amazing light projections appear on the building accompanied by music and art performances.
